The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc fiddle camp 2024!

There are many different fiddle styles found throughout the Nordic region. The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc represent 4 of these and are very knowledgeable about their respective traditions and styles.

Olav Luksengård Mjelva (Norway), Anders Hall (Sweden) and Kevin Henderson (Shetland Islands) have been touring as The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc since 2009 and have taken their unique brand of music to many parts of the globe.

The first NFB Fiddle Camp was held in 2018 in Røros, Norway, and in 2019 we had the second edition in Järvsö, Sweden. Both were a huge success with lots of music and laughter! Then the pandemic hit, and the next camp was held in Voss, Norway in 2023. Also a lot of fun!
In 2024 we go back to the roots, and the 4th edition of the fiddle camp will again be held in Røros, Norway. 

Storwartz Leirskole with its unique surroundings will be our home for three days of workshops, activities, food, drink and late night jam sessions!

The fiddle camp will offer an intensive daily timetable of three instrumental lessons with Olav, Anders and Kevin as well as other activities to be announced. 

The workshops will be aimed at 3 different levels: intermediate, higher intermediate and advanced. The learning will be done by ear.

The camp will have space for 50 people so it is recommended that people sign up quickly to avoid disappointment!

Good to know

When
Arrival: Monday August 19th from 16.30. There will be dinner and a jam session!
There will be a bus from Røros Station to the camp at 16.00 Monday.

Departure: Thursday 22nd at 13.30. There will be lessons in the morning. Lunch will be served at 12.30. After that you are free to go. There will be a bus back to the station at 13.30.

Early bird (registration before April 1st):  5000 NOK
After April 1st: 5500 NOK

Cancellation Policy
When organising and running a camp there are significant costs involved and many things have to be paid for in advance.
If for whatever reason you have to cancel after applying and being accepted the following refund policy has to be in place.

Cancellations before April 30th: Full Refund

Cancellations between May 1st and June 30th: 50% refund

Cancellations after July 1st: No refund.

Where
The camp will be held at Storwartz School, a camp in one of the oldest mining areas in the Røros area. The camp is 12 kilometers from Røros and the nature is unique and popular for hiking and fishing.

What´s included?
- Local transport (From Røros to the camp and back)

- Accommodation. There are 50 beds at the camp, most of them in 4-bed rooms.

- Workshops with Kevin, Anders and Olav. The workshops will be aimed at 3 different levels: lower intermediate, higher intermediate and advanced. The learning will be done by ear.

- A concert with The Nordic Fiddlers Bloc.

- Breakfast, lunch and dinner. We will have our own chef making all meals at the camp.  There will also be coffee, tea etc. included.

- Wednesday we will take a trip to the center of Røros Dinner will be served in Røros this day (also included). 

- Other activities to be announced 

How to get to Røros
The easiest way to get to Røros, especially if you´re coming from abroad, is to fly to Røros (RRS) airport. Flights are operated by DAT
You can also fly to Oslo or Trondheim and take the train to Røros. Trains are operated by VY.
